MeUndies Founder: Jonathan Shokrian
Jonathan Shokrian is the founder of Los Angeles-based E-commerce company MeUndies, dedicated to creating the “world’s most comfortable undies”.
His beautiful Los Angeles abode is home to a growing collection of emerging art, including many works from the Tappan roster. We sat down with him to talk about the importance of art in his space and his philosophy when acquiring new pieces.
Q.
How did you first start acquiring art?
A.
I first started collecting in my early 20s. One of my friends in Dallas hosted a show at my place and I purchased my first piece from her. From that point I became obsessed. I got really into Salvador Dali’s work and Expressionism.
Q.
Why is collecting emerging art important to you?
A.
I find emerging artists to be bolder in their work. It’s less about who they are, and more about the talent and piece.

Q.
What is your favorite work in the collection?
A.
Hard to say. My first piece is sentimental in many ways – I could barely afford to buy it but I had my heart set on it and did. My most recent purchase, though, ties my home and collection together, with its warm colors, fabric, and paint.
Q.
What mood did you want to create in your space?
A.
One of comfort and calm. Dark yet emotionally pleasing.

Q.
What inspires you daily?
A.
Finding inspiration amid daily routines can be hard, so I love getting away and changing things up. Short road trips to desert and other adventures where I let go of the day-to-day spark my imagination and inspire me from new surroundings.
