The San Francisco tabletop company Year & Day commissioned Barcelona based Tappan artist Carla Cascales Alimbau to create a site specific installation for their pop up location in New York. Inspired by year and days thoughtful ceramics line embodying colors of the California coast, Cascales sourced bespoke stone to create a hanging sculpture in the formation of the Milky Way.
Cascales’ impressive sculpture recreates the faint set of stars that together form the constellation’s halo of light.
Carla Cascales Alimbau says
“None of them is brighter, or more important, but all together create a bright path.”
Embodying themes of quiet observation and thoughtful gathering integral to the Year and Day brand, Cascales’ Milky Way mirrors the moment of calm one experiences when looking up at the sky.
