DESCRIPTION
Original collage on paper | 2021
Michael DeSutter’s hand cut collages explore movement through the aesthetics of high fashion photography and everyday imagery. Meticulously cut and constructed, his two dimensional compositions assume sculptural appearances.
DeSutter’s body of work “Making Moves Again” represents his process of getting back out into the world after living in quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic. He created the series in Los Angeles, away from his home in Denver, CO. The ten collages exist as a sequence—each title features a progression of asterisks and a street name, which correspond to a path that he walked daily while creating the works.
